A very successful WestRun 2007.

This year’s event was based in the Clarinbridge Court Hotel in Clarinbridge and was regarded as one of the most successful to date.

The usual static display took place at the Spanish Arch in the afternoon of Friday, July 27th with registration taking place during the afternoon and in Clarinbridge prior to the Friday night Social where music for dancing was provided by Sean Walsh and his band. Almost 100 cars took part and the event was officially opened by the Mayor of Galway city, councillor Tom Costello.

westrun07The Run on Saturday, July 28th commenced at the hotel at 9.30am and travelled through Connemara to Clifden in West Galway and returned via the same route to the Clarinbridge Court Hotel. The local committee in Clifden, under the direction of club member Paddy Pryce were highly commended for their excellent organisation, particularly with parking and the magnificent entertainment provided throughout the afternoon featuring local musicians and dancers. Father Martin Glynn celebrated a special mass in the hotel prior to the Saturday night Banquet and prizegiving which commenced at 9.00pm with an excellent dinner and magnificent music supplied by the Brose Walsh band from County Mayo. The function was attended by over 200 people and the guests of honour were the Mayor of County Galway, councillor Sean Canney and his wife Geraldine.

Sunday morning, July 29th saw a farewell party with a light lunch and some music, song and chat, hosted by the social committee.

This year’s WestRun was under the direction of the W.V.V.M.C. Director of Events, Joe O’Neill, and the main sponsor was the Carparts Warehouse.

WestRun 2007 was officially launched at a reception in the Alcock and Browne hotel in Clifden on Friday, July 6th. This event, which was sponsored by 2C Interiors in Clifden attracted a large number of vintage car enthusiasts and their cars.
